Kenneth F. Kane, 84 years of N. Falmouth, formerly of Brockton and N. Easton, died December 19, 2007 at Bourne Manor. Beloved husband of Margaret A. (Herlihy) Kane to whom he was married for 60 years. Loving son of the late Timothy F. and Irene (Shea) Kane. Loving and wonderful father of Kathleen K. Norton and her husband Richard of N. Easton and Pocasset, Paula K. Norton and her husband Jack of N. Easton and Mashpee, Timothy F. Kane of N. Falmouth and the late David F. Kane; grandfather of Elizabeth Norton Woods, Christine K. Norton and Jacqueline M. Norton all of South Boston; devoted brother and best friend of Marilyn K. Buckley of Brockton and brother of the late Franklin E., Robert A and William D. Kane.
Ken graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1940. He enlisted in the Army Air Force during World War II and was a 2nd lieutenant and navigator of B-17s in the 100th Bomb Group. His plane, Humpty Dumpty, was shot down over Germany on December 31, 1944. He survived by parachuting into enemy territory and spent the rest of the war in a German POW camp. He was released by invading Russian troops at war’s end in May 1945.
After the war, Ken was one of the first to graduate from Bentley College. He worked with the IRS for many years and for several large accounting firms before starting his own accounting practice, Kenneth F. Kane, CPA and Associates.
A member of Thorny Lea Golf Club since the age of 13, following the tradition established by his father, an original member of the club, Ken had a passion for golf and accomplished the amazing by shooting four holes-in-one throughout his golfing career.
Ken was also a pioneer patient for coronary by-pass surgery and survived three triple bypasses from 1975 on. He was a very agreeable man, a gentleman in every respect and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial will be held Monday in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8pm.
