Donald E. Lane, Sr. was born on January 6, 1957 to Mrs. Ceola Lane and the late Mr. Eugene Lane in San Jose, California. The LORD called Donald into HIS loving arms as he departed this life on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Huntsville, Hospital, Huntsville, Alabama. Donald's devoted wife did not hear the door that opened and took him beyond her call, for it was a soft as the dropping of a rose petal, but the LORD left Donald's memory to linger with us like the fragrance of a rose, until our own life's door shall close.
Donald accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Ravenswood High School Palo, Alto, California and furthered his education at Stockton Theology Bible College, where he received a degree in Theology. Donald also served in the United States Marine, where he was honorably discharged.
Donald was joined in Holy Matrimony to the former Miss Linda Wright. Donald's professional career included employment with FMC (United Defense) and JDSU in San Jose, California. In 2006, he and his wife moved to Huntsville, Alabama and Donald found employment at Alabama A&M University and Verizon as a security guard.
Donald was preceded in death by one brother, James Lane and one sister, Violetta McFarland. Those left to share his legacy of love are: his beloved wife, Linda W. Lane; his loving mother, Ceola A. Lane of East Palo Alto, California; six children: Donald Lane Jr., Tamra Lane, Paula (Wendell) Parks, Roderick Calloway, Robert (Katie) Calloway, and Ronald (Riba) Calloway; thirteen grandchildren: Anthony, Johnathan, Whitney, Samuel, Paul, Justin, Jordan, Jada, Eva, Cali, Sara, Claire, and Bernice; three brothers: Wendell Lane, Wilbert Dean Lane, and Victor Lane; two sisters: Carolyn (Robert) McGrew and Doris Bradford; bother-in-law, William Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Donald E. Lane will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 12:00 Noon from the First Church of God and Christ with Pastor Curtis Banks officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
