Obituary

Louis M. Chakarian of Andover and beloved husband of Margaret (Tateosian) Chakarian, died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Saturday, December 8, 2007. He was 82 years old.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was a beloved son of the late Luke and Agnes (Hovsepian) Chakarian.
Mr. Chakarian served in the Navy during WWII and received his honorable discharge in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 5, 1946. While in the service, he served on the USS Tarana and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the American Area Medal, for his service. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 49 and a member of Saint Vartanantz Armenian Church of Chelmsford for many years.
He will be sorely missed by his loving wife, Margaret (Tateosian) Chakarian as well as one daughter and one son-in-law; Carrie and her husband Brian Adolph of Plum Island, one brother; Andrew Chakarian of Florida, several nieces and nephews, many friends and his cat, Mitzi. He was also the brother-in-law of John Tateosian and brother of the late Oscar and William Chakarian.
His memorial service was celebrated in St. Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Road, Chelmsford, Friday, December 14, 2007. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louis’ memory may be made to St. Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
