Obituary

Richard W. Wood, 96, of Deerfield, NH, died December 17, 2007 after a sudden illness.
He was born in New York City on October 22, 1911, the son of John F. and Rose (Dryer) Wood. He was raised and educated in the Hell's Kitchen section of the city.
Prior to retirement from the Hartford National Bank in 1972, he had been employed by the Teamsters Union as a truck driver. He had worked as a self-employed driver and had also driven for the Land O' Lakes Company for many years.
Richard was a devoted NY Yankees fan and had played professional baseball at the Double A level in his earlier years. He loved fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family with whom he resided until his passing.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Hazel (Ketchum) Wood in 1995, and by his only daughter, Joan (Wood) Devine in 2004.
Members of his family include his grandchildren, Richard D. Devine and his wife Alaine of Manchester, Patrick Devine of Kingston, Thomas Devine of Manchester, Tracy Laliberte and her husband Al of Auburn, Michael Devine and his wife Judy of Deerfield, and Joseph Devine of Manchester; five great-grandchildren, Christopher and Alexander Devine, Carly and Kevin Laliberte, and Ryan Devine; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The funeral service took place on Saturday December 22, 2007 in the funeral home chapel. Urn burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, at a later date.
