Obituary

Alice Blanchette, 91, of Mendon Rd., Woonsocket, formerly of Cross St. Bellingham, died Sunday at the Ballou Home. She was the wife of the late Roland A. Blanchette.
Born in Riviere A Pierre, Quebec, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucia (Brouielette) Miller. She came to Woonsocket from Quebec at the age of nine, was raised in Woonsocket, and lived in Bellingham for many years.
Mrs. Blanchette worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Foxboro State Hospital for over 20 years. In her youth she worked for the Lafayette Mill and several other mills in Woonsocket. She was also employed at the Tupperware Co. for several years, personally working with the late Earl Tupper.
Alice was an avid doll collector. Her collection of several hundred dolls was a feature article in The Call, and she was affectionately known as the “Doll Lady of Bellingham”.
She is survived by two sons, Emile Blanchette, of North Providence, and Roger Blanchette-Miller, of Woonsocket, and a grandson, Matthew Blanchette, of North Providence. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
A prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:00am at the Chapel at St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Wrentham Rd., Bellingham. Visitation is at the chapel from 9:30-10:00 am prior to the service.
