NEW BEDFORD — Ada Viola Fontes, age 77 years, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at The Oaks.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Alvin and Viola (Warren) Brown, she lived in this community all of her life. She was a member of the former St. James Church and had been employed as a sales clerk in K-Mart, Zayre and Ames stores.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Ann Starlie and Sheryl Ann Savaria, sisters: Barbara Britto, Grace Bizzarro, Virginia Gonsalves, Dorothy Arruda and Beatrice Cunha, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her longtime companion, Thomas Gamble and his children, many nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law Rose Brown.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, December 22nd from 2-4 p.m., with prayer at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford. Burial is private. Remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
