Mrs. Bessie Lee Leslie Gideon, better known as “Aunt Bessie” was born on August 3, 1933 to the late Tobe Riley Leslie and Rosie Lee Parker Leslie in Madison County, Alabama. She departed this life on December 17, 2007 at Huntsville Hospital.
The Lord saw that the road was getting rough for Aunt Bessie and he needed another flower in the garden so he quietly removed her from this earth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tobe Riley Leslie and Rosie Lee Parker Leslie; six sisters and three brothers: Margate L. Horton, Martha L. Crawford, Mary L. Gladys Wilson, Aribie L. L. Reed, Louise L. White, Martha L. Burks, Albert Leslie, George Leslie and James Leslie.
She accepted Christ in 1956 as her personal Savior and joined the Big Shiloh Church under the leadership of Reverend James Townsend in Madison, Alabama. She sung in the #1 Choir faithfully, until her health failed her.
She leaves to cherish her sweet dear memories one devoted and loving sister, Rosanna Hyter (Cleveland); one sister-in-law, Bessie Lee Leslie; two brothers-in-law: James Wilson and John Henry White, both of Huntsville, Alabama; one aunt, Gloria Clemons of Huntsville, Alabama; a devoted cousin, Susie Smith and a special friend, Ernest Pope.
Although Aunt Bessie did not have any biological children of her own she had a special place in her heart for all her nieces and nephews. Her doors were always opened whenever anyone needed a place to live or food to eat. She would feed you good and then send food home with you…that was just the kind of person she was. Auntie we are going to miss you but have finished your journey on this side so it’s okay for you to take your rest.
