Edward T. Slade, of Newton Centre, retired auto mechanic, died Monday Dec 17, 2007 at the Boston Center for Rehab. He was 85.
Born in Boston he had lived in Newton Centre for 57 years. He served in the U.S. navy as a Aviation Machinist Mate during WW II. He worked as a mechanic for McNeilly Olds in Chestnut Hill, Brodigan Motors in East Boston, Pump Sales Compressors in Auburndale and Tapco in Dedham. Mr. Slade was a Past Master of Dalhousie Lodge AF & AM, a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine, and was the former registrar of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member Trinity Episcopal Church of Newton Centre.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Alison (Pike) Slade, his children Katherine Scott-White of Natick, Kenneth of WA, Meredith Schuft of Richmond VT and Dana Aker of Blue Hill ME; his brother Frederick Slade of Cape Cod, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sat Dec 22 at 10 AM in Trinity Episcopal Church 11 Homer St. (at Centre St.) Newton Centre. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Fri from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Masonic service will be conducted by Dalhousie Lodge AF & AM at 7:30 PM.
