Wm. Paul Dunn - Of New Pond Village, Walpole, formerly of Needham, died December 14, 2007 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Mary S. (Sayers) Dunn for 59 years.
Devoted father of Elizabeth D. Qualter and husband Michael of Methuen, Paula J. Dunn and husband S.H. Jang of Moultonborough, NH, Christine “Tina” M. Dunn of Newton and Robert G. Dunn and wife Anne of Needham. Brother of the late Sidney Dunn and Sister de Chantal, SSJ. Also survived by cousin Maureen Connelly of Newton, nieces, nephew and their families, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
1933 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and member of the Order of the Purple Knights. Proudly served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WW II, on the Destroyer Escort, USS Jenks, which aided in the capture of the German Submarine – U505. A 54 year resident of Needham, he was elected to the Board of Appeals and served as a member of the Exchange Club. After a successful career as owner of the Paul Dunn Insurance Agency, he enjoyed a long standing affiliation with the Needham Co-Operative Bank, where he already was a member of the Board of Directors. Recently honored for his years of service, he was presented a “Chair” from the Bank.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. (exit 19B off 128) NEEDHAM, Wednesday at 9:00 AM. Funeral mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Needham, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Interment Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
