Obituary

Robert “Bob” M. Kelly, Jr., 62, of Noank, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 15th, at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Lynn Kelly and his daughter Shannon Kelly of Marlborough, Mass. In addition to his wife and daughter, Bob is survived by his mother Ann Kelly of Madison, brother David Kelly of New Britian, his sister-in-law Nancy Martin-Mathewson of New Lisbon, NY and her children, as well as many close relatives and friends throughout the region and country. He was predeceased by his father Robert M. Kelly, Sr and sister Elizabeth “Betsy” Kelly.

Bob was born in 1945 in Hartford and was a graduate of Hartford Public High School. Bob worked at the former Mansfield Training School while pursuing his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Connecticut.

He worked in the field of public recreation for many years for the towns of Windham, Ridgefield, and Groton and was a past president of the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association. Bob had a passion for the recreational needs of people, especially those with developmental disabilities. At the time of his death, he was employed by Network, Inc., working directly with adults with special needs.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern CT, P.O. Box 1762, Groton, CT 06340.
