Aaron Jeffrey Cote, 17, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away at home, from a seizure disorder on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Aaron was born on August 29, 1990, in Manchester, NH. He attended South Range Elementary School in Derry, NH. He and his family moved to Leawood, Kansas in 2001, where he attended Mission Trail Elementary School, Leawood Middle School and Blue Valley North High School. He was currently a sophomore and very popular with his fellow students. Aaron participated in Special Olympics and the Blue Valley Special Population Program. He was a member of Church of the Nativity where he attended religious education classes.
Aaron was a ray of sunshine to everyone who knew him. He brightened all of our lives with his daily weather reports and was an avid collector of license plates, zip codes, world currency and flags. He loved watching his brother play hockey for the Kansas City Junior Outlaws and traveling with the team.
Aaron underwent three open-heart surgeries and numerous medical procedures with courage and fortitude. He was our hero and an inspiration to all.
Aaron is survived by his mother and father, Liz and Jeff Cote, of Leawood, Kansas, and siblings Bryan and Paige, of the home, his maternal grandmother, Betty Csenger of Windham, NH, his fraternal grandparents, Patricia and Richard “Yogi” Cote of Londonderry, NH and numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Aaron leaves behind family and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Visiting will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007 from 11:00am until 12:30pm with prayers being offered at 12:00 noon in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in Cemetery on the Plain, Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Aaron Cote, to Children’s Mercy Hospital, Attention: Resource Development, 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO, 64108.
