Gille, David A. who lived in Englewood for twenty-five years, died on December 13 after a brief illness. Mr. Gille was sixty-four years old. He was a 1961 graduate of Teaneck High School where he participated on the varsity Track Team. In 1965 he graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana with a degree in Mathematics.
After graduation, Gille trained as a Naval Officer and served his country in Viet Nam as a Lieutenant, J.G. Returning to the states after his service, he entered the field of computer programming working at New Jersey Bell, Grand Union and Nabisco, Inc. At Nabisco he was Manager of Application Development including Y2K planning.
In 2003, Mr. Gille made the decision to leave the computer programming field and train for a very different field - Nursing. He attended Bergen County Community College and in 2005, received his nursing degree and became an RN. Prior to his illness he was enjoying his second career working as a nurse at LLANFAIR House in Wayne, a long term care facility.
Gille’s volunteer service included membership and President of the Grace Lutheran Church Council in Teaneck and membership in the Englewood Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
Mr. Gille is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Dorothy Nelsen-Gille; his mother, Marjorie Gille of Teaneck; sister, Deborah Gallo; brothers, John and Grant; ten nieces and nephews; and nine grand-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gille’s wife and family will welcome visits from friends between 4:00 and 6:00PM on Sunday, December 16 at the Volk-Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 17 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1200 River Road, Teaneck .
