BEVERLY: Ida M. (Govoni) Sangster, 88, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in the Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of the late Carl D. Sangster who died in March of 1985.
Born in Beverly on February 12, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carmella (Casassa) Govoni. She was a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1936 and a lifelong resident of Beverly.
Ida was employed for several years at her father’s grocery store, the former Govoni’s Market on Cabot Street and had also worked as a draftsperson at the former United Shoe Machinery Corp. in Beverly. She enjoyed gardening and was a devoted member of the Full Gospel Mission in Salem.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel R. Sangster and Brian A. Sangster, Sr. both of Beverly, two daughters and a son-in-law, Jan B. Sangster of Beverly and Angela F. and Donald R. Grabowski of Saugus, four grandchildren, Eric E. Jalbert of Beverly, Geena M. Grabowski, Stephen E. Sangster and Brian A. Sangster, Jr. all of Saugus, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Henry Govoni of Ipswich and David and Nancy Govoni of Port Orange, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister, Rita Tardiff and four brothers, Francis, Alfred, Joseph and Douglas Govoni.
Her funeral services will be held on Monday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Monday from 9 – 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the North Beverly Cemetery.
