Retired Tewksbury Firefighter
TEWKSBURY: Paul Allan “Moe” Mahoney, age 80, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, died Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Tewksbury Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of Joyce A. (Roper) Mahoney.
Born in Lowell on August 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Alice (Mahoney) Mahoney.
Mr. Mahoney attended Tewksbury schools.
In 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II at the Naval Air Base in Little Creek, Virginia.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a firefighter by the Tewksbury Fire Department. Mr. Mahoney previously worked for the Tewksbury Highway Department, the Tewksbury Department of Public Works, the J.G. MacLellan Concrete Company and the B & M Railroad Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Patricia Kelliher of New Hampshire; numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends including; Timothy Niven, Timothy Holden, Shirley Olson, Nancy and Keith Anderson, Helen and Kenneth “Bunky” Holden.
Mr. Mahoney was the step-brother of the late Florence Burgess and close friend of the late Cynthia Niemi.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15th, at 11 a.m., at the Tewksbury Congregational Church, East St., Tewksbury Center. At Paul’s request there are No Calling Hours.
