Obituary

George W. Baldwin, 59, of North Easton, formerly of Brockton, died at home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday December 12, 2007, following a long and valiant battle with melanoma. Born in Binghamton, New York to the late George J. and Beulah (Ellis) Baldwin, George grew up in the Campello section of Brockton, an area to which he was devoted throughout his life. He leaves his high school sweetheart and wife of 36 years, Maria (Correnti) Baldwin. A 1967 graduate of Brockton High School, George received degrees from Massasoit Community College and Boston University and earned numerous professional certifications in banking and real estate. He was the owner and CEO of Corporate Realty Associates for the past 20 years and was a former Vice President and Senior Loan Officer for Peoples Savings Bank where he established a lifelong pattern of community service.

After moving from Brockton to North Easton 22 years ago, George remained a staunch supporter of the City of Champions. He gave his time unselfishly in service to many organizations. He was a member and past president of The Metro South Chamber of Commerce; founder and past president of the Brockton 21st Century Corporation; founder and past director of the Brockton Boys and Girls Club; a founder of the Big Brother Association in Brockton; served on the board of Cardinal Spellman High School and was a past director of the Brockton Regional Economic Development Corporation.

In his free time George loved to play golf and was a member of Thorny Lea Golf Club. He was an avid RV-er and enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He wintered in the Space Coast area of Florida and spent his summers in Truro, where he loved walking the beach and clamming. But just being with his family gave him the most enjoyment in life.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter, G. Anthony Baldwin and wife Amy of Plymouth, who are expecting their first child, and Marissa Baldwin and family friend Michael Gormican of Cohasset. He was the brother of JoAnne Gates and husband David of Middleboro and Margaret Gronlund and husband Ralph of Hanson. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
