Obituary

Eileen Sargent, 81, of Mattapoisett died December 10, 2007 at home after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Julia (Blecha) Sargent, lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Mattapoisett in 1969.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.
Ms. Sargent was formerly employed by Otis Air Force Base as an executive secretary for 35 years until her retirement.
She was a Board Member of the Friends of the Elderly of Mattapoisett, former director and past president of Cape Cod Federal Credit Union, member of the Democratic Committee of Mattapoisett, Commissioner for the Mattapoisett Housing Authority, and past member of the Mattapoisett Conservation Commission. She was a driver and caller for "FISH." Ms. Sargent was a friend of Bill W for 39 years. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Josephine Sargent of South Windsor, Ct.; 3 nieces, Leslie McCullough and her husband William of Tolland, Ct., Debra Cravens and her husband Stanley of Madison, WI, and Katrina Deziel and her husband Gary of Georgia, Vermont; a nephew, James Sargent, and his partner David Ganak of Boston; 2 great-nephews, Collin McCullough and Ryan McCullough; 2 great-nieces, Caitrin McCullough and Julia Deziel; her good friend Louise Bedard.
She was the sister of the late Joseph F. Sargent, Jr., James F. Sargent, and William A. Sargent.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 14th at 10 AM in St. Anthony's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett.
