Obituary

Curtis Fussell, 63, of Irwinville died Monday, December 10 at Dorminy Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, December 13, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. John K. Mobley and Rev. Robert Chaudoin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Fussell was born January 24, 1944 in Fitzgerald to Frances Sumner Fussell and the late James C. “Dick” Fussell. He lived in the community most of his life, graduating from Irwin County High School in 1962. Mr. Fussell retired as track forman with CSX Railroad after 30 years and was a former employee of Harper Motor Lines. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Fussell was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He loved horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Thoroughbred & Quarter Horse Racing Association.

Mr. Fussell is survived by his wife, Susie Fussell of Irwinville; mother, Frances Fussell of Fitzgerald; stepchildren, Stewart & Frances Mitchell of Fitzgerald, James Mitchell of Irwin County and Mandy Wright and Aleshia Smith both of Callahan, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, George “Buddy” & Gaye Fussell of Chimayo, New Mexico, Harris & Sandra Fussell of Irwin County, Wayne & Jan Fussell of Fitzgerald and Billy Fussell of Irwin County; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn & Henri Daniel of Sylvester, Martha “Cookie” & John Marsh of Ocilla, Faye & Richard Gibbs of Irwin County and Sarah & David Harper of Osierfield as well as several nieces and nephews.
