GLOUCESTER: Mary “Gert” (Mahoney) Lowe, age 103, formerly of Marina Drive, died Sunday, December 9, 2007 in the Seacoast Nursing and Retirement Center following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Harold W. Lowe who died in 1980.
Born in Charlestown on November 13, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mary W. (Geddes) Mahoney. She had resided in Gloucester since 1954. Gert was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing.
She was also predeceased by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edwin C. and Avis Mahoney and Joseph F. Mahoney and a dear friend, Alice Johnson.
Her funeral services will be held on Thursday in the Beechbrook Cemetery, W. Gloucester at 11 a.m. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Rose Baker Senior Center, 6 Manuel F. Lewis St., Gloucester. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
