Ethel P. Holm, 82

Holden—Ethel P. (Andersen) Holm, 82, of 771 Salisbury Street, a former Home Economics Teacher, died Tuesday, January 14, at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus.

She leaves her husband of 57 years, Robert E. Holm; a son, Donald R. Holm of West Boylston; a daughter, Carol E. LaFreniere of Medfield; and three grandchildren. Three brothers-- Alfred, Martin, and Paul Andersen predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Karl and Pauline (Martinsen) Andersen. Mrs. Holm graduated from Commerce High School and Framingham State College. She received a Masters inEducation from Worcester State College. Mrs. Holm taught Home Economics for 24 years, including 20 years in the Worcester School System. She also worked for the Worcester County Extension Service as a Nutrition Specialist. She was a member of the Worcester Framingham Club and its Alumnae Association, the Women High School Teachers Association and the South Worcester County Retirement Teachers Association. Mrs. Holm was an active, life-long member of Salem Covenant Church where she served as choir member, Sunday-school teacher, president of the Covenant Workmen’s Organization, and various other committees. She enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, and home economics.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, in Salem Covenant Church, 215 Mountain Street East, Worcester. A graveside Funeral Service will be held at 9:45 a.m. at All Faiths Cemetery, 7 Island Road, Worcester. Calling hours are 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, (NordgrenMemorialChapel.com), 300 Lincoln Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Salem Covenant Church Memorial Fund, 215 Mountain Street East, Worcester, MA 01606.
