Alice B. Donovan
...of Tewksbury; age 78
TEWKSBURY - Alice B. (Collins) Donovan, age 78, a resident of Tewksbury since 1959, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
Alice was the loving wife, for over 35 years, of Albert J. Donovan, who died in 1988. She was born January 23, 1929, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Hart) Collins. She lived in Waltham before moving to Tewksbury.
For more than 30 years, until her retirement, she was employed by Raytheon Company, South Lowell.
Mrs. Donovan was a communicant of St. William's Church.
Alice was described by her family as having enjoyed Ballroom Dancing, going to the beach, camping, and traveling with family and friends. She dedicated her life to helping others. She "had a big heart," and always thought of everyone else first. Her most important activities were spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, James Donovan of Tewksbury, Diane Donovan of Dracut, Paul Donovan of Dracut, Linda (Donovan) Stumpf and her husband Robert of Townsend. Another family member the family would like to acknowledge is Mirta Cruz of Dracut who Alice viewed as a daughter. Alice is also survived by a brother, James Collins and his wife Jenny of Virginia; a sister, Mary Tyman of Connecticut; brother-in-law, William Donovan and his wife Ellie of Quincy; twelve grandchildren; one great granddaughter; several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, as well as many close friends especially her dear friend, Mary McManis of Florida and Lorraine of Lowell.
Alice was also the mother of the late Stephen P. Donovan and Timothy Donovan; and sister of the late Dolly Snell.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, Dec. 14, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
