Edward J. "Bud" Murray, 82, of New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth, died Friday December 7, 2007 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Jean A. (Gammons) Murray and the late Edna M. (Coville) Murray.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Charles and Mary (Boyle) Murray, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mr. Murray was formerly employed as a machinist and licensed fireman for Quaker Fabrics in Fall River, Quaker Oats in New Bedford, and Roar Aircraft in California.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include wife; two children, Donna Desirey and her husband Peter of Dartmouth, and Peter Murray and his wife Virginia of Little Compton, RI; two stepchildren, Joyce Souza and Michael Souza and his wife Donna, all of New Bedford; a brother, Rev. Charles A. Murray, M.M. of Yucatan, Mexico; three grandchildren, Tracey Zuber, Brent Desirey, and Heather Amaral; and three great-grandchildren, Cailey and Bryce Desirey and Adrianna Zuber.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
