Louise Fraser, 91, a long time resident of Hampstead, NH, died peacefully after a short illness at the Haven Health Center of Derry on Thursday, December 6, 2007. She was born August 8,1916,(the 9th of 13 children) to Nellie & George Ducharme of Medford, MA. She was a widow of Donald E. Fraser of East Hampstead and was predeceased by her son, Donald W. Fraser, of Manchester NH. Louise attended Medford High School, and nurses training classes at Tewksbury Hospital. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Hampstead, a nurse’s aide at Hale Hospital, and Tewksbury Hospital and as an electrical worker at Western Electric. She was a talented artist and pianist. As an involved life long learner, she pursued many interests, throughout her long and happy life.
She leaves behind her son Thomas and his wife Charlene Fraser of Hampstead; a son Paul Fraser and Donna Lord Henry of Palm Harbor, FL; and three daughters, Genevieve Fraser, of Orange, MA; Mrs. Mary and Ajay Sawant of Lowell MA; and Mrs. Lillian and Donald Douville of Marshfield, ME. Louise's granddaughters are Susanni Douville and husband John Hull, of Portland, ME; Rebecca Albright of Otis, ME; Mrs. Jennifer and Eric Van Horne of Portland, ME; and Rebekah Lovat Fraser of New Salem, MA; and great grandchildren Torie Van Horne, Erin Van Horne; Mikolas Albright, Sebastian Albright and Shayla Albright, Kate Hull and Christie Hull, and her namesake, MacKenzie Louise Coffman. She is also survived by her husband's Uncle and Aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Fraser of Newark, DE, nieces Margaret Ducharme, of Medford, MA and Carol Kilroy of Lynnfield, MA and several other distant nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to thank the Nursing Home for an outstanding job of creating a “home away from home” for Louise during the past four years.
Calling hours were held on Sunday, December 9th from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Monday at 1:00pm in the Hampstead Congregational Church, Main St., Hampstead. The burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead in the spring.
