DRACUT - M. Ruth (Kapala) Costello, 72, a resident of Pawtucketville, who most recently resided in Dracut, died Friday, December 7th, 2007 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Raymond F. Costello, a retired Lowell police officer, with whom she was married for 52 years.
She was born on August 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Matthew and the late Winifred (Bardsley) Kapala. Mrs. Costello graduated from Lowell High School.
She was a career employee of the Internal Revenue Service.
In addtion to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Rhonda M. Regan and her husband Mark of Lowell; three sons, Raymond M. Costello of Lowell, Richard M. Costello of Hampton Falls, NH, and Randy M. Costello and his wife Michelle of Dracut; her sister, Carolyn Kapala of South Yarmouth, MA; her cousin, Anna Billewicz of Lowell; her former daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Costello of Coventry, RI; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces; and a host of friends who enjoyed her laughter and companionship.
Mrs. Costello has a genuine zest for life. In her free time she enjoyed traveling with her sister, Carolyn, and loved spending time with her family.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Monday, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Lowell General Hospital, Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854.
