BEVERLY: Helen T. Couhig, 93, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 in the Harborside Healthcare – Cedar Glen in Danvers following a brief illness.
Born in Beverly on June 14, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen F. (Coleman) Couhig. She was a graduate of Beverly High School and a lifelong resident of Beverly.
Helen was employed as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company for over forty years. She was also a member of the St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish in Beverly.
She is survived by five nieces, Anne Couhig of Rocky Hill, CT, Ellen M. (Millea) and her husband, Richard Skryness of Beverly, Meg (Couhig) and her husband, Ed Kursonis and Joanne (Couhig) and her husband, John Crosby all of Worcester and Dorothy (Couhig) and her husband, Bruce Hotte of Columbus, OH, five nephews, David Couhig and James and his wife, Barbara (Pyott) Millea all of Beverly, John Millea of Ravenna, OH, John and his wife, Patricia (Crosby) Couhig of Worcester and Thomas and his wife, Julie (Carman) Couhig of Falmouth, a sister-in-law, Mary Couhig of Beverly and many beloved great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister, Mary (Couhig) Millea and four brothers, John, David, Leonard and Philip Couhig.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915 Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
