Mary Frances Rice was born on July 28, 1934 to the late Mr. Issac Jacobs and Mrs. Beatrice Stone in Madison County, Alabama. She gracefully and quietly transitioned into eternal life on Thursday Morning, December 6, 2007.
Mary Frances Rice showed her love for God by caring for others; her family, friends, and anyone that spent time in her presence. Mary Frances spent her childhood in Madison County, where she received the training and directions that guided her life. As a young lady, she moved to Toledo, where she met and married her soul mate, Mr. James F. Rice. When inquiries were made about the length of their marriage, they would response in unison, “50 plus years.”
Mary Frances Rice was employed by Hunt Wesson Food (Conagra) as an assembly worker. She took special care in the nurturing of her family, cooking and maintaining her home. She also had a love for shopping. After relocating to Huntsville, you could find her in the company of Matilda or Mary, her chaperones, on the rare occasions when her number one driver, James, was unavailable.
Following their move to Huntsville the family knew that there lives were not complete without the covering and care of a church family, following the will of God, they united with First Missionary Baptist Church.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Ewing and her two granddaughters. Always a mother, following the death of her sister, she begin to love and nurture a new daughter, Sharon Stone.
She leaves loving and cherish memories to her devoted husband, James Floyd Rice; daughter, Sharon Stone; three brothers: Percy Stone, Aundre (Allison) Jacobs, both of Huntsville, Alabama and Darrell (Monaca) Jacobs of Detroit, Michigan; stepson, Harold (Shirley) Davis of Huntsville, Alabama; four sisters-in-law: Lorna Rice, Kathleen Rice, Iradell Rice, all of Madison, Alabama and Katie Janey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law, C. L. (Berda) Rice of Chattanooga, Tennessee, special friends: Bessie Boston of Mobile, Alabama, Ida Williams of Florida, and Elizabeth Gray of Toledo, Ohio, who visits and phone calls she truly enjoyed, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Frances Rice will be held Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 11:00 from the First Missioanry Baptist Church with Pastor Julius R. Scruggs officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens.
