Middletown, RI - Charles L. Simmons, Sr., 84, of Little Compton, RI passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Grand Islander Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Boardman) Simmons.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Leonard W. and Susan (Taber) Simmons, he had lived in Little Compton for most of his life. He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement he was a boiler tender for Montaup Electric. An avid coin collector, Mr. Simmons also enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Survivors include a son: Charles L. Simmons, Jr. of Little Compton; 4 daughters: Susan S. L’Europa of Little Compton, Marilyn Khoury of Swansea, Margaret Dellifranci of Cape Coral, FL and Laurel Drabble of Las Vegas, NV; a brother: Edward T. Simmons of Coscob, CT; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Potter Funeral Home at 12:00 P.M.
Calling hours will be Sunday 4 - 7 P.M.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
