L. F. (LaFaite) "Fate" Barnes, 98, of Enigma died Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Danny Ray and Rev. Edgar Rowe will officiate with burial to follow in Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Barnes, Ray Woods, Eugene Barnes, Hal McMahan, Larry Crumley and Joey Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Aultman and Benny Goddard. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Barnes was born on November 19, 1909 in Ben Hill County and was the son of Lewis Gip Barnes and Clara Ellis Nichols Barnes, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Irene Rowe Barnes; three brothers; and five sisters. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Barnes is survived by two sons, Earl LaFaite Barnes of Enigma and Wayne Barnes of Tifton; two daughters, Glinda Cone of Enigma and Myrtice Dowdy of Enigma; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
