Bridgewater-George H. Charland Jr., of Bridgewater, died after a long illness at his home on Dec. 1. He was 68.
Born in Boston, a son of the late George H. and Isabella (Ahearn), he was a graduate of Memorial High School in Roxbury. He also attended electronics and bartending school.
He served with the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Essex CVA-9.
George lived in Brockton for 35 years before moving to Bridgewater, 12 years ago.
He worked as a printer for 13 years at Hanson Print in Brockton.
He was a lifelong member of the Polish Club and the Lincoln Club, both in Bridgewater.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda R. (Curtis); father of David and his wife Pauline of Bridgewater, Paul of Brockton, Michele and her husband Richard Silva of Brockton and Brenda and her husband Michael Vento of Hanson; brother of Mary Twigg of Halifax. Also survived by his grandchildren, Paul Jr., Chris, Heather, Kelsey, Shaun and Stephanie.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, at 9:30 a.m. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 11 a.m.
Visiting hours are on Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m.
