Carrie Lou Branam, 90, of Irwin County, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M., Friday, December 7, at Abba Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Richey, Rev. Howard Kitchens and Rev. Edgar Renfroe officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Branam was born January 31, 1917 in Turner County to the late Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Hogan Swain. She was a farm wife who had lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Branam was a former employee of Lowell Packing Company and Litts Department Store. She was a member of Abba Baptist Church, secretary for the Ladies Sunday School Class and helped with Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Branam was an avid Seamstress and Quilter.
Mrs. Branam is survived by a daughter, LaVerne B. (Bobby) Lee of Fitzgerald; granddaughter, Amanda (Lee) Renfroe of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Thurman Branam, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
