Obituary

Ludowici- Glenda Faye Long Giddens, age 58, passed from this earth on October 22, 2007 to spend eternity with her Lord.

Glenda was a native of Savannah, Georgia and a 1966 graduate of Savannah High School. She moved to Long County in 1980 becoming actively involved in the PTA and Band Boosters, eventually becoming an employee of the Long County School System.

Glenda was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ludowici. She was a leader in the Children’s Department for many years.

Glenda was the heart of the Liberty Campus of Savannah Technical College since the very early years of the operation in a small shopping center outside the main gate of Fort Stewart. She served the students of Liberty County with compassion and dedication. She had a special place in her heart for the families of Fort Stewart and was committed to providing them every educational service and resource necessary to ensure they reached their personal and professional goals. Glenda’s legacy will live on in the lives of thousands of students she touched with her smile and encouragement.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lily Mae Long. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Don of 20 years; two sons, Joey (Tessa) and Jeffery ( Tobi) Harrison of Ludowici; stepchildren, Kevin (Karen) Giddens of Guyton and Karra (Clay) Harden of Ellabel; father, Jacob A. Long Sr. of Savannah; sister, Wanda Jay (Charlie) Evans of Rincon; brothers, Jacob A. (Ann) Long, Jr. and Harold “Sput” (Edna) Long of Savannah and 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church of Ludowici on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from the Calvary Baptist Church of Ludowici with Reverend John Gladin and Reverend Bobby Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Rye Patch Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Bobby Parker, Brian Smith, Earl Austin, Jeff Mobley, Charlie Harrison and Lee Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church.
