Donald J. Welch,78, of Ventura Way, Chepachet, died Thursday, November 29 at Haven Health Center, Smithfield.
Born in Providence, a son of the late David and Ethel (Taylor) Welch. He had been a plumber with Local #28 & #51 for 55 years. He was a 40 year member of the Tri-city Elks Lodge #14 and a nineteen year member of the American Legion Post #0157. He was a lifetime member of the Societe of Jacques Cartier.
He leaves his daughter, Carol A. Ventura, his son-in-law, Robert Ventura and his granddaughter, Tiffany all of Chepachet, and a brother, David K. Welch of Tolland, CT. He was the brother of the late James Raymond Welch.
A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday at 9:30 am in St. Eugene Church, 1247 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Visitation respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Boulevard, Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
