Elliott Musslewhite, 78, of Rochelle, died Saturday, December 1, 2007, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, in Macon.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, December 3, 2007, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Rebecca, with Rev. Gene Ramsey and Rev. Talmadge Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Musslewhite was born December 26, 1928 in Irwin County to the late Stephen Isom and Jessie Dean Griffin Musslewhite. He lived in Rochelle for the past eight years coming from Ben Hill County. He was a foreman for the Georgia Department of Transportation retiring after 20 years of service. He was a former employee of Fitzgerald Cotton Mills, a former meat cutter in Rebecca, and a farmer. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict in the 3rd Division of the U.S. Army. Mr. Musslewhite was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School class. He was a regular attender of the Brotherhood breakfasts at Kramer Baptist Church
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Connie M. Musslewhite of Rochelle; son and daughter-in-law: Zane and Rene Musslewhite of Rochelle; daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Harold Martin of Rochelle; three grandchildren: Aaron Musslewhite, Hal Martin, and Austin Martin, all of Rochelle; two brothers: Edward Musslewhite of Illinois and Bob Musslewhite of Stockbridge; and one sister: Hazelleen Luke of Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Jessie Rene Musslewhite; one brother: Rufus Musslewhite and two sisters: Vereen Banks and Theo White.
