Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Lillian V. (Enslow) Fleming, 91, formerly of 99 Prospect Street, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 in the Golden Living Center, Gloucester following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Arthur E. Fleming who died in 1974.
Born in W. Green Harbor, Nova Scotia, Canada on August 8, 1916 she was the daughter of the late William and Anne (Williams) Enslow. She had resided in Nova Scotia for many years before moving to Gloucester in 1961.
Lillian was employed for many years as a licensed practical nurse at the former Cape Ann Nursing Home and the former Huntress Home. She also did private duty nursing for the Allen family of Rockport. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Gloucester. Lillian was also an avid amateur painter and enjoyed sewing.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie A. and Clayton Thorborne of Jordan Falls, Nova Scotia, Canada and Monica F. Nickerson of Montréal, Québec, Canada, three sons and two daughters-in-law, George C. and Rowena Nickerson of Mt. Uniake, Nova Scotia, Canada, Anthony C. and Anna Nickerson of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada and Larry R. Nickerson of Manchester, NH, twenty-one grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother, Clayton “Jim” Enslow of Gloucester and nine other siblings from Nova Scotia.
Her funeral services will be held on Monday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Assembly of God Church, 211 Washington St., Gloucester, MA 01930. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery, W. Gloucester.
