Gertrude E. (Morin) Dion age 91 of Salem. Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother peacefully passed away at her home of 54 years on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. She will truly be missed.
Gertrude was a lifelong resident of Salem, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who would do anything for her family. She was well known for owning Carol Ann’s Donut Shop and Scott’s Lamplighter Restaurant in Salem. She at one time was employed by Ducom, as well as the Pequot Mills both formerly of Salem..
She was the wife of the late Adhemar 'Eddie' Dion and daughter of the late Edmond Morin and Bertha (Deschenes) Morin MacNeil, and stepdaughter of Raymond MacNeil. She was an avid Red Sox fan able to enjoy them win two World Series as well as enjoying crocheting, watching golf, and in her earlier days, loved dancing. She also loved spending every holiday or whatnot with her family. Gertrude also cared deeply for her home health aides, who she considered family, who have been with her for many years.
Gertrude is survived by her daughters, Carol Meehan of Pembroke Pines, FL and Pauline Dion of Salem, her grandchildren, Scott Meehan and his wife Barbara, Tina Pszenny and her husband Bill and Dawn Bernard and her husband Todd, all of Danvers, her great grandchildren Kendall Meehan and Reese Pszenny aw well as her step-great grandchildren Shane Walter, Nicole and Jaclyn Pszenny and Matthew and Tara Bernard, all of Danvers, and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Gloria Shustowsky, Jacqueline DeMuele and Rita Herrick, as well as Carol’s life long partner Paul MacComisky.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 8 am followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 9 am. Visiting hours: Sunday 4 to 8 pm.
