Benigno Rizzo “Benjamin J.” of Medford, formerly of Plaistow, NH, East Boston and Revere, died Wednesday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford. He was 91.
Mr. Rizzo was born and raised in East Boston, the son of the late Vincent and the late Carmela (Caggiano) Rizzo. Mr. Rizzo worked as a plumber until his retirement operating his own business, Rizzo Plumbing and Heating. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6617 in Plaistow. He was an accomplished artist, enjoyed music and travel.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Dagnese) Rizzo. He was a devoted father to Carol DuMont and her husband Roland of Peabody, Vincent Rizzo and his wife Lynette of Plaistow, NH. He was a loving grandfather to 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Jennie Lavinia, Marciano, Tony, Albert, Gaetano and Anthony Rizzo.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Friday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
