Obituary

Worcester—Anne Demirjian, 86, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham. Born in Worcester, daughter of the late Seragan and Naomi (Kevorkian) Demirjian, she spent most of her life in Worcester, graduating from North High School in the Class of 1939 as Valedictorian and attending Boston University.

In 1946, the New York Stock Exchange registered her as the first woman stockbroker in Worcester and one of a few in the Country. She was the subject of many newspaper articles. She retired in 1987 from Shearson-American Express (now Smith-Barney).

She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour and attended Greendale People’s Church. She was an honorary director of AAA, a member of the Boston University Alumni Association and the Women’s Guild of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. She was an avid gardener, traveler, and painter. She is survived by her sister, Aliz Hoogasian of Framingham and her nephews, Seth Hoogasian of Brookline and Russell Hoogasian of Framingham.

The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 1, at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester MA 01609.
