Rockport: Irene A. Benoit age 88 of Rockport died Monday, November 26, 2007 at the Radius Healthcare Center in Danvers following a long illness.
Born and raised in Salem she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Nelda (Roberts) Benoit. Irene was a graduate of Burdett Junior College and first worked in the collection office of the Pickering Oil Company of Salem. She later moved to Boston, where she assisted her brother Robert in managing one of his guest houses. Following the sale of the Boston properties, they settled in Rockport where they ran another guest house and antique shop. Irene retired in 1978.
She is survived by her brother Robert N. Benoit of Rockport, 2 Nieces: Joyce A. Harvey of Salem, and Deara Bartlett of Beverly, 3 nephews: Charles Benoit, III of Beverly, Donald Benoit of Manchester by the Sea and Paul Benoit of Salem. She is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Irene was predeceased by her sisters: Alona F. Ouellette and Rita Paolucci and her brother Charles A. Benoit Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 9 am. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of your choice.
