Mary (Gonsalves) Dias, 87, of New Bedford died November 26, 2007 at New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Dias.
Born in East Freetown, the daughter of the late Manuel and Margaret (Santos) Gonsalves she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Dias was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene.
She was formerly employed by Aerovox for 35 years until her retirement in 1983.
Mrs. Dias was a former member of the Faithful Club.
Survivors include a son, Alfred J. "Jay" Dias, Jr. of New Bedford, 3 daughters, Jo-Ann Isaac of New Bedford, Darlene Dias of Springfield, VA and Brenda Dias-King of Woodbridge, VA; a sister, Juvina Dias of New Bedford, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Augusto, Linda and Donna, and sister of the late Beatrice Mendes, Eva Vasconcellos, Jennie Lopes, and Clara Andrade.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 30th at 10 AM in the International Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 29th from 4-8 PM.
