Obituary

REHOBOTH: Anthony C. Russo 77, of 24 Stagecoach Rd., and a former longtime Franklin resident and Milford native, died Monday November 26, 2007 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, following a long period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Marian E. (Verna) Russo, who died in 2004.
Born in Milford, November 22, 1930 a son of the late Guiseppe and Angelina (Covino) Russo, he was raised and educated in Milford and graduated Milford High School in 1948. He lived in Franklin for many years before moving to Rehoboth in 2001.
Mr. Russo was a retired plumber. He retired as such from the Waters Association in Milford in 1992 where he worked for more than 20 years.
During the Korean conflict, he served in the United States Air Force in Korea. He attained the rank of Airman 2nd class, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in January 1955.
He was a member of Medway Post #1526 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Rehoboth Post #302 American Legion. He was a member of the Rehoboth Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Council Knights of Columbus in Franklin, and the Franklin Lodge of Elks.
An avid sports fan, he was a die hard Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots follower. He also enjoyed his family, gardening and golf.
He is survived by 5 daughters, Maryann Cole of Bangor, Maine, Kathy Durand of Franklin, Lisa Keyser of Levant, Maine, Lori Sesona of Newport, Maine and Joanne Plumer of Rehoboth with whom he resided, 2 brothers Joseph Russo of Wareham, Aniello Russo of Milford, 2 sisters Bella Cresenzi of Milford and Virginia Mack of Ashland. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday December 1, 2007 at 8:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, (www.franklinfuneral.com) with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. at 9AM. Interment will follow with military honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours are Friday November 30, 2007 from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
