Ruth Ethel Hinkle, 85, formerly of Derry, NH, died November 26, 2007 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH where she had resided since 1992. Born August 2, 1922 in Derry, she was the daughter of Louis W. and Ethel (Ainsworth) Morse of 9 Mt. Washington St. Mrs. Hinkle attended local schools and graduated in 1942 from Vermont Junior College in Montpelier. Formerly she had been married to Joseph H.G. Hinkle. From 1958 to1964 Mrs. Hinkle was employed as an undercover agent for detective and security agencies in Boston and New York City before returning to New Hampshire to work at the Alliance Detective Agency of Manchester. She later worked as a pilot driver escorting manufactured homes to their destinations throughout New England. Mrs. Hinkle was active in the Derry chapter of Sweet Adelines having served as its president. She had been a member of First Baptist Church, Derry, since 1966. Disabled since 1973, she had made her home at the Nutfield Heights Senior Citizen Center before suffering a brain aneurysm, which left her totally incapacitated.
Mrs. Hinkle leaves no known relatives.
A calling hour was held on Thursday from 9 – 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A graveside service followed at 11:00am at the Morse lot on Angell Avenue in Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry, with Pastor Alice M.C. Ling officiating.
