New Bedford – Joao DeSousa, aged 68 years, of New Bedford passed away Monday, November 26, 2007. He was the father of Margaret Luthart of Holland, brother of Maria S. Centeio of New Bedford and Jack DeSousa and his wife Maria of N. Dartmouth, brother-in-law of Vangie DeSousa of New Bedford, cousin of Adalberto Goncalves of Florida. Mr. DeSousa is also survived by 3 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other cousins. He was the brother of the late Dina DeSousa, Dominga Mitchell and Manuel DeSousa.He was the former husband of Idilia (Goncalves) DeSousa.
Mr. DeSousa was born in Brava, Cape Verde Island. He was a son of the late Eduardo and Margarida (Goncalves) DeSousa. Mr. DeSousa was formerly employed as a machine operator at Morse Cutting Tools.
Mr. DeSousa’s Funeral will be Thursday from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5 to 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
