Moultonborough-John Francis McCormack, 82, of Stage Road died Saturday evening, November 24, 2007 at Franklin Regional Hospital after a period of declining health.
John was born in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire on February 17, 1925, the son of the late John C. and Annie B. (McDonald) McCormack. He had been a resident of Moultonborough for past 12 years, and a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed by Suburban Propane as a truck driver, and the former Scott & Williams Company in Laconia. He also worked for the State of New Hampshire Marine Patrol out of Glendale covering several lakes throughout the area. Through his younger years he was very active in the Catholic Church. A person who loved the outdoors, John was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Honorably serving his country, John was a United States Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII as a pilot flying B-24’s and B-25’s.
John was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks B.P.O. E. 876, and a member of the Meredith American Legion.
John is predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Nadeau, and brother Bernard McCormack.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris A. (Pelchat) McCormack of Moultonborough; his four sons, Stephen J. McCormack and his wife Patricia of Gilmanton, Gerard F. McCormack and his wife Irene of Concord, Patrick B. McCormack of Hampton, and Michael D. McCormack of Moultonborough; a brother, Harold McCormack and his wife Norma of Colebrook; a sister, Mary Colarusso and her husband John of Moultonborough. Eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive John.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia at 11:00 a.m. A period of visitation preceded the service at the memorial home from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia.
