In Taunton, November 24, 2007 Jose B. died after a lengthy illness at age 87 in the Golden Living Center Wedgemere in Taunton. Husband of Maria (Braga) Melo of Taunton. Jose was born in the Azores to the late Manuel & Escolastica (Alfonco) Sousa. Jose has lived in Taunton on Oak St. since 1977. Jose worked at Reed & Barton in Taunton as a janitor until his retirement and worked as a farmer in the Azores. He enjoyed gardening and his family. Jose leaves his three children Jose Melo of New Bedford, Antonio Melo of Taunton and Almerinda Cabral of Santa Maria, Portugal. Jose also leaves two surviving siblings and three that are previously deceased. He was a Grandfather of 17 and great Grandfather of several. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Tues. Nov. 27th at 10:30am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony’s Church in Taunton at 12pm. Visiting hours are prior to the Mass from 10:30-11:30am. Interment in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
