POST-SERVICE NOTICE:A Funeral Service was conducted Wednesday morning at The Dinoto Funeral Home, for Ronald L. Foular Sr. The Rev. Merle E. Spring, pastor emeritus of the Old Mystic Baptist Church, and a longtime family friend, officiated.
Burial followed at Elm Grove Cemetery where the US Army rendered military honors. Ron's flag was given to his wife, Rebel, who in turn, presented it to Ron's son, Jim.
Among the delegations represented were Ace Security Co., the Mystic Acquarium, Old Mystic Fire Police assoc., and the Mystic Hook & Ladder Company.
The family wishes to extended their thanks to everyon ewho attended and helped them in so many ways in recent months.
Ronald L. Foular Sr., age 55, of 239 Haley Road, Ledyard, died early Friday morning with his family by his side. Ron had been diagnosed with lung cancer in 1997.
Ron was born in Norwich on January 17, 1947 the son of Dallas C. Foular. After receiving his education, he served in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam.
In earlier years, Ron worked for the State of CT and the transferred to Whiting Forensic Institute in Middletown. He later worked as a captain for Ace Security Co., and then worked at the Mystic aquarium for ten years before retiring due to ill health.
He was a life member of the Mystic Hook & Ladder Co. He also served as a deputy fire marshall for the Mystic Fire Department. He was a past member of the Pequot Fire Police Assoc., and served as Past Captainof the Mystic Fire Police Assoc. and was a former member of the Hugo Simonelli Post, VFW in Mystic as well as the CT State Fire Marshall Service.
Ron is survived by his wife, Rebel S. Fowler, 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond & Darlene Arnold of Groton, Ronald & Christine Foular of Montville, and James & Chrisitine Foular of Ledyard, with whom he recently made his home, his former wife, lifelong friend, and mother of his children, Lucinda Foular; a brother, Thurman Foular of Griswold; a sister, Eilieen Foular of Norwich, and his 6 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Foular.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 6-8pm. A Service will be conducted at 11am Wednesday at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors at Elm Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Merle E. Spring, pastor emeritus of the Old Mystic Baptist Church, will officiate.
