Mrs. Barbara A. (Haley, Harrington) Berry of Winchester, formerly of Dennis and Reading and beloved wife of the late Gordon Berry, died at the Winchester Nursing Center on Saturday, November 17, 2007 as a result of complications from her seven year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 90 years old.
She was born at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on October 3, 1917, the daughter of the late Dr. Paul J.D. and Cora (Andrews) Haley. Barbara was a graduate of: Colby Jr. College; the Faulkner School of Nursing in Jamaica Plain: and Harvard Graduate School. She worked as a hospital nurse, a physical therapist, and as a nurse for the Medford Public School system, dealing with children with special needs, for many years.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed gardening, entertaining, and traveling. She was also an avid bird watcher. She liked to read, she enjoyed nature, loved beaches and the ocean, and she was enthused with certain television shows and music productions. Her greatest joy in life though, was her family.
She will be sincerely missed by: three sons and a daughter; Dr. Russell S. and his wife Sandra M. Harrington of Duxbury, Dr. Mark D. Harrington and his partner Ki Bong Chang of Malden, Judith E. McCormack of Winchester, and Scott Harrington of Florida; one stepson; Rob and his wife Andrea Berry of Reading; and three step daughters: Sandy and her husband Clyde McAllister of West Brookfield, Linda and her husband Rick Stoddard of Florida, and Trisha of Florida; thirteen grandchildren: Steve, Melissa, Kristen, Megan, Piper, Max, Ben, Sarah, Heather, Steve, Ally, Dyana, and Christina; and eight great-grandchildren: Kyle, Abbey, Reilly, Steven, Mathew, Cole, Alexandria and Logan. She was the sister of the late Dr. Robert Haley and Dr. Warren Haley.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Monday, November 26, 2007, at Noon. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended.
