Mrs. Libra "Libby" (Evangelista) Carlucci, 85, of Franklin, and a seasonal resident of Sandwich since 1955, died on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at her home in Franklin, following a long illness.
She was the wife of Louis A. Carlucci for 69 years.
Born in Santa Maria del Molise, Italy, a daughter of the late Antonio and Antoinetta (Ferrara) Evangelista, she lived in Franklin since coming to America in 1947.
Until her retirement many years ago, Mrs. Carlucci worked in the cafeteria at Dean Junior College in Franklin for 15 years. Prior to working there, she worked as a stitcher at the Whiting & Davis Co. in Plainville.
She was an active member of Quattro Eroi Lodge No. 1414, Sons of Italy, in Franklin, and was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary Church in Franklin.
Her hobbies and interests included family, especially her grandchildren, crocheting, cooking, gardening and canning.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Mario P. Carlucci of North Smithfield, R.I., attorney Paul L. Carlucci and his wife, Robyn, of Franklin, and Donald A. Carlucci and his wife, Lydia, of Franklin; two daughters, Dora A. Brett and her husband, Ken, of Norfolk and Pamela L. Bonnell and her husband, Richard, of Mendon; 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was also the sister of the late Michael Evangelista of Franklin.
The funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 26, at 8:15 a.m., from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., with a funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, 1 Church Square, at 9 a.m.
Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 25, from 3 to 7 p.m. The Sons of Italy Lodge will conduct its ritual service Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
