Daniel E. Creeden, Sr., 77, of Naples formerly of Attleboro and Mansfield died on Thursday November 22, 2007 at the Avow Hospice Center in Naples. He was the beloved husband of Janice A. (White) Creeden to whom he was wed to for the past 52 years.
Born in Norwood, MA on January 27, 1930 he was a son of the late John V. and Julia (O’Leary) Creeden, Sr.
He grew up in Mansfield and was educated in Mansfield schools. He faithfully served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.
Mr. Creeden was a retired paint mixer and had worked at the Foxboro Co. at the companies Foxboro plant for 24 years before retiring in 1985. Since living in Naples he was employed at the Moorings Country Club where he was in charge of setting up buffets and was affectionately referred to as the “Waffle Man” for his ability to create the most delicious tasting waffles.
Dan was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Naples and was a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro and St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. He loved his family and especially the simple pleasures of playing with his grandchildren. He had made his home in Naples for the past 19 years and had formerly lived in Attleboro for over 20 years in addition to his younger years in Mansfield.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his devoted children Karen E. Johnson and her husband Gene of Overland Park, Kansas, Cynthia A. Creeden of Attleboro, Daniel E. Creeden, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Bristol, R.I. and Mary K. Creeden of Green Bay Wisconsin, He was the brother of Harold Creeden of Port Orange, Florida, Margaret Unger of Mansfield, Juliet Flynn of Wareham and the late Mary Sullivan, John Creeden and Edward Creeden, also survived by his 8 cherished grandchildren Maggie Boyd and her husband Kevin, Pamela Johnson, Gene Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Travis Roubal, Daniel Johnson, Liam Robinette and Lydia Robinette, his great grandson Jason Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday November 30th at 8:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church 133 North Main St. Attleboro. Burial will follow with full military honors at 12:30 P.M. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday November 29th between the hours of 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
