Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Reardon Jr., a 2 year resident of Stoneham, who also lived in Centerville for a period of time but always knew he was from Charlestown, died on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2007 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following an extended illness. He was 81 years old.

Bob was born in Charlestown on July 8, 1926. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Catherine's Grammer School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1944. He enlisted into the United States Army on November 1, 1944. He served during World War 2 and was discharged as a Private First Class on January 11, 1946. Bob worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health as a vision and hearing specialist. While working, Bob began night classes at Boston College and graduated Suma Cum Laude of his class in 1965. Bob retired from the Commonwealth of Mass. in 1988 after over 35 years of service. He was a member of Boston College Alumni of Cape Cod and Bunker Hill Council # 62 Knights of Columbus of Charlestown.

Bob is the beloved husband of 58 years to Mary A. (Fidler) Reardon. He is the devoted father of Joseph F. Reardon and his late wife Joanne, Robert J. Reardon lll and his wife Mary all of Stoneham, Edward J. Reardon and his wife Lynn of Medford and the late Gerard J. Reardon. He is the loving "Papa" to Tim, Mike, Kurt, Rob, Michelle, E.J., Scott, Taylor, Brendan, and great-grandfather to Cameron M., Julia, Ellie and Cameron G. He is the beloved brother of the late Katherine Sedick, Jane and Joe Fidler, Patricia McGrath, Paul and John Reardon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bob's Funeral will be held on Tuesday November 27, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Bob are on Monday November 26, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
