WEBSTER – Helen V. (Strzelewicz) Silvestri, 80, of 7 Kelly Erin Lane, died Thursday, Nov. 22, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness. Her husband of 48 years, Joseph R. Silvestri, died in 1996.
She leaves 2 sons, David J. Silvestri of Waco, TX and Gary J. Silvestri and his wife Rhonda J. of Thompson, CT; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She also leaves her beloved cat Mishka. She was preceded in death by her daughter Karen E. Lucier and by her brother Bernard “Stretch” Strzelewicz.
She was born and raised in Webster, the daughter of John F. and Stella (Andrzejewski) Strzelewicz and lived here most of her life. She resided in Haines City, FL for 5 years.
Mrs. Silvestri was a stitcher at various textile mills before retiring.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. She was a past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Southbridge and a member and past officer of the Webster-Dudley American Legion Auxiliary. In both organizations, she devoted much volunteer time over the years. She was also a member of the Webster Senior Center and the local AARP.
The funeral will be held Monday, November 26, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, November 25, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to Webster-Dudley American Legion Auxiliary, Houghton St., Webster, MA 01570.
