Rita E. LeBlanc, 86, formerly of Farnum Pike, North Smithfield, died Wednesday at Hebert Nursing Home in Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Leo C. LeBlanc.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Azilda (Vallieres) Mainville. She was raised in Woonsocket and resided in North Smithfield for over 40 years.
Mrs. LeBlanc ran an alterations shop from her home for many years.
Rita had a passion for sewing and was well-known for the many hundreds of wedding dresses she created for brides and bridesmaids in the area over many years.
Rita shared a hobby for square dancing with her late husband Leo, as they were both members of the “Smokey Squares” square dancing club. She also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and gardening.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Eva Mainville, Yvonne Martin, Viola Stone, and Juliette Allard.
Her funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 am in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Slatersville.
